The Crown of Deceit

I was overwhelmed to hear the applause for me
To feel the crown that  glittered and
happily rested upon my head
“Finally, I made it to the top”
Pleased and content
I looked  back to get
a glimpse of my victory path.
But what I saw left me numb and still,
The scene I left behind during my climb:
Were of the heads trying their best to rise again
Those  heads  I had stamped upon to reach  the peak.
I could see the eyes trying
to gather their dreams that had been
shattered by my schemes.
What I saw were those confused minds still trying to figure out the game I played to outsmart them….
‘How hard working am I’
To carve my mark upon masterpieces already complete

I smirked at my trickery  and patted my back for the ploy i played.
Had it not been for deceit and guile,
This throne would never have been mine…
